David Lee Hock, 79, of Herrin, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2026 at Integrity Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Marion, IL.
David was born July 24, 1947 in Herrin, Illinois to Rev. F. Glen & Velsie L. (Norman) Hock.
David married Sharon R. “Sparki” Sparks on November 23, 1978 at the Carterville Methodist Church in Carterville, IL. She preceded him in death on January 21, 2023.
David worked as a School Administrator for various school districts in Southern Illinois.
David started singing with the Calvarymen in the early 1970’s and also sang with several other groups throughout his life. His favorite hobbies were fishing, playing the piano and spending his free time with family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Robyn Henricks of Herrin; four grandchildren, Kayelee Pettit and her husband Drew, Jessica Morris and her husband Devon, Taylor Rea and her husband Wade, and Ashlee Meadows and her husband Jacob; eight great grandchildren, Lahna, Isla, Henry, Gabe, Elliot, Gwen, Ashlynn and Walker; brother and sister-in-law, Phillip & Melanie Hock of Herrin; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Doris & Mike Kiesling of Carterville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; daughter, Amy Chaney; parents; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda & Norris “Red” Reed; and brother-in-law, Mike “Sparky” Sparks
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2026 at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Todd Hawk and Rev. Ralph Brandon officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Herrin City Cemetery in Herrin.
